BUILDING SPIRITUAL HOUSES??

This week we met some wonderful missionaries who arent Mormon!  They are going all around the world, Asia, Africa, South America, helping and learning! They are building houses and helping people worship and its really great!

But that being said... I still glad Im a Mormon missionary.  Because theres something Ive noticed during my time here, and that is that the difference between helping people with temporal matters

and helping them with spiritual/eternal matters.

And the focus of Mormon missionaries is to help people with Spiritual matters.  These are matters such as family relationships, helping them answer big questions, helping give dirrection to the lost, helping LOVE.

There is a question I like to ask myself when I have to make decisions, and its "Will it matter in 1,000 years?" and if it doesnt matter, I dont want to do it.  Spiritual matters will matter in 1,000 years.

Helping build houses is great.  We do this every saturday.  But a house honestly will not provide the warmth and help that a testimony will.  So we build testimonies. We build "spiritual houses."

This is not to say that other missionaries dont.... its just that its something that I really love.

I want to leave you with the words of Dieter F Uchtdorf, a modern day prophet.  These are the words that confirm to me that he and the prophet are the authorities of the Church of Jesus Christ. (Fill the World with Christ's Love - Dec. 2014 Liahona)

Jesus Christ taught us how to love.  So I want to follow Him.

"Jesus the Christ, who knew perfectly how to give, set for us the pattern for giving.

"To those whose hearts are heavy with loneliness and sorrow, He brings compassion and comfort
To those whose bodies and minds are afflicted with illness and suffering, He brings love and healing.
To those whose souls are burdened with sin, He offers hope, forgiveness, and redemption.

"If the Savior were among us today, we would find Him where He always was—ministering to the meek, the downcast, the humble, the distressed, and the poor in spirit."  - President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

I love this church, I love this mission, I love Mendoza Argentina, and I am a follower of Jesus Christ.

We went to Cerro de la Gloria this week, which is a national Argentine monument thats on the 5 peso bill, and IN MY AREA!

LOVE BOMBS

Falling in love is something very important in everyones lives.  Ive been learning that it is pretty easy to fall in love!

Before you read this, you should understand that this is coming from a 20 year old kid....

But I truly believe that its pretty easy to fall in love.  Everyone is pretty wonderful, and I have definitely already fallen in love with Argentina and a lot of special people here.

But falling in love is something that you have to be careful about.  As humans, we naturally start to care about people, and before we know it, we start caring about them... a lot.

And the dangerous thing is that maybe the people we fall in love with dont want what we want... And we start to get hurt and cant understand why they dont want the same things we want.

Ive seen a lot of young couples here hurt by this.  But Ive also seen a lot of amazingly loving and beautiful couples who have the same goals.

>
My message this week is that be careful who you fall in love with... who you choose to spend the most of your time with.. because humans are all pretty great but sometimes we get distracted and things get hard.  :(

But sometimes it works out wonderfully, and your best friend goes on a mission..!

LOVE ALWAYS,

WHEN THEY SAID LA FAVORITA WAS DANGEROUS I DIDNT EXPECT THEM TO BE TALKING ABOUT BOMBS!!

GODS ARMY

This letter is not about the movie. But Gods Army is one of the best Mormon movies Ive ever seen and definitely recommend it.

God´s army is what they call missionaries.  We are the army of God, a bunch of 20 year old kids dressed in ties talking about happiness and families.  Mormon Missionaries are the army of God and I am very blessed to be a part of His army.

The thing with mormon missionaries is that theyve seen tough things.

I love to talk with my friends here and a pattern that I have seen is that a lot of missionaries have something that theyve dealt with, either before the mission or during, that is something really sad and heartbreaking.  My 20 year old friends have seen some horrible horrible things that make me really sad... There are old addictions and family problems and health issues and the thing is that we are a broken bunch.  A really broken bunch.  But we stay here because we believe.  We believe things get better.  We believe that anyone can overcome anything because we ourselves have overcome giant mountains.  But we didnt overcome them alone... We overcame addictions and spiritual scars with the gospel and we know it works.  And we want to share it with everyone.  We want to share this with everyone because once youve tasted what it feels like to feel CLEAN.  To feel clean after being ridden with sin and evil thoughts, there is nothing quick as sweet.  There is nothing as sweet as being able to feel happy and in control that comes from the gospel.

Sometimes people look at missionaries and think we are an innocent bunch.  Ive done it.  What do these punk 20 year olds know about life.  And the truth is that the only reason we are here, is because weve seen evil.   Weve seen evil, and weve seen the ability to overcome evil...  And what happens is that we look innocent because we choose it.  Because we are clean once again.  We have fought to feel innocent love, and thats what we want to share.

Because we´ve seen it.  We´ve seen horrible things. And we dont want these things for others.  You deserve to be happy. My friends and loved ones dont deserve to feel heartache that we have all felt.  And because of this, we share a message of purity, of innocence, of love.

WE HAVE SEEN THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL.  We are so grateful to be here.

LOVE,
ELDER AMANN

TODAY we went to Cerro Arco, which is a really tall hill, as a district and it was super fun!

SOMETHING I CAN'T TEACH YOU

Elder Mendonça and me above Mendoza

Opposition is the reason we have liberty.  Study this.

Liberty = Freedom to choose, or Free Choice.  It is the greatest thing we have in the world today, the ability to make our own choices, and it is the right given to us by God:  the Freedom to Choose.

Opposition = Liberty = Jesus Christ = The world has opposition because of Jesus Christ.  That's ok, He told us that would happen.  But it is also through Jesus Christ that we can have liberty and be free.

Because of this opposition, we have the liberty that we have. But this is not something I can teach you, and this letter might not even make sense.  It's something that has to be learned from God.

Opposition existed before the world began.  But it's a good thing!  It is because of opposition that we can choose those we love, it is because of opposition that we can grow and become stronger.  It is by opposition that we can know, without a doubt, that we CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY.

So be grateful for your opposition.  And then choose to be free!

I highly recommend the talk from the April Liahona, "The war goes on."  Learn for yourself!

God’s plan involved moral agency for mankind and a great sacrifice. Jehovah, known to us as Jesus Christ, volunteered to be that sacrifice—to suffer for all our sins. He was willing to lay down His life for His brothers and sisters so that those who repented could come back clean and eventually become like their Heavenly Father. (See Moses 4:1–4; Abraham 3:27.)

HEALTH AND HAPPINESS

I had a pretty bad head ache this past week.  It lasted 4 and a half days.  And when I asked for help--a priesthood blessing... My headache went away in less than 24 hours.  It is SO important to ask for help.  Asking for help is an act of faith and God wants us to be healthy.  We can be doing the right things but if we arent healthy it will be really hard to feel the spirit.

My message this week is short.

I heard something that really stuck out to me, and that is that sometimes people get baptized just because 2 happy people enter their lives.  Just because 2 happy kids share a little happiness with them, they follow what they say.  This is a little sad to me, but I know its true.  It stands as a reminder that everyone just wants to be happy.  And I know we can all do better so that those around us can just be happy.

LOVE!
